Eclipse debugger for freezing Android virtual device?

Saw similar questions , but nothing touches what I see, and should work with:

[16:29:11 - com.XX.yy] Attempting to connect debugger to 'com.XX' on port 8852

There is no real device, just an Android emulator.

It works correctly on the emulator (although it takes some time to start).

However, the debugging attempt just hangs.

Displays the message above and shows a black screen on the emulator ...?

Any point in the right direction is welcome.

As you said, the line waits for you to specify a breakpoint in your program.

The emulator is always a slow process during debugging. To increase the eclipse rate, modify the eclipse configuration file in the eclipse folder and restart.

Try deleting the current AVD and creating a new one, and then starting the debugger again. Solved the problem in my case.
