How to make shadow effect for abutton in android?

I use android:shadowDx and android:shadowDy .. for text and they work fine, can I use it for a button or any other kind? if not, how can I make a shadow effect for a button?

android: shadowcolor - TextView property that applies only to text. There is also an earlier post here for your question.
