Kate text editor cannot process lines longer than 1024?

This is a very annoying restriction for editing certain configuration files, such as mozilla prefs.js . It usually contains strings longer.

This is a well-known security option, it is configurable:

Switch to:

 Settings / configure editor / open and save set line length limit [ 1024 ] 

and change 1024

If you are against VIM and EMACS (give them a try), there is a gnome alternative to Gedit, that is, there is also a lightweight IDE Geany and Mousepad, and there are full-fledged IDEs like Ajunta, NetBeans, QTCreator, etc.
