How to tell mutt not to store sent messages?

I am trying to figure out how to disable saving sent messages in Mutt.

Is there a 'record' value in .muttrc for this to happen?

Here's the copy option to manage copies of the messages you send. This is a quadoption, so it can be set to no (which will do what you want), yes to save messages automatically, and ask-yes or ask-no to request each message to select the default value.
