Sql Server 2008 R2 Management Studio - No Intellisense

Can anyone suggest why intellisense is not working.

I am using 2008 R2.

I have seen people here suggest first writing the FROM clause first.

I performed Query - Intellisense Enabled.

I updated the local cache.

I even installed all this on a completely new hard drive, with a new OS.

I am on my way. It was so good when it worked, so long ago.

Have you just installed the update for Visual Studio 2010 SP1? If so, this is a known issue with IntelliSense SSMS.

This is a description of the problem.

Here - a solution to the problem.

There are many things that can be wrong.

  • you can connect to an instance of SQL Server 2005 or earlier or SQL Azure
  • your script may be too large (Tools / Options / Text Editor / Transact-SQL / IntelliSense / Maximum script Size)
  • you can be in SQLCMD mode
  • make sure Management Studio is fixed to> = @@ VERSION server. Service packs are also important for client tools.
  • third-party add-ons can interfere

My suggestion? Start playing with SQL Server 2012 SSMS. Of course, this is just a candidate for release, but I have used it as the main management tool for more than a year and it is more or less stable than the 2008/2008 R2 tools. And IntelliSense also has good improvements.

I also had the same problem, I tried reinstalling SQL and installing the latest Service Pack 2 and installing the cumulative update, but this did not solve the problem.

Resolved the problem of reinstalling the service pack for Visual Studio 2010 1

He also stopped for me when he was working fine. I resurrected it by updating the local intellisense cache with ctl + shift + R or through the SSMS menu items: Edit -> Intellisense -> Update local cache.
