Does the link go to the Google developer page?

Can someone check what I see is not a mistake? I check the referrer when someone comes to my site, which is an ASP.NET C # website site. When I link to any of the other sites that I control, my home page correctly sees the referrer.

I try to maintain another third-party site that links to me, and they have a Google site page on sites.google.com/site/whatever, and when I follow this link, my referrer on my main page is empty.

Is this what Google is doing, or is it really a weird bug in my code. (I know that you do not see my code, but I would like to check that Google disconnects the referrer from its sites.google pages.)

thanks

The default Google Sites are HTTPS, which means that referrer data is not transmitted. This could be part of Google’s transition to HTTPS across the board. The implications are discussed here .

HTTP RFC says forwarding sources should not be sent when switching from HTTPS to HTTP. Not sure if HTTPS works on HTTPS. See discussion here .
