Intellij IDEA CE 12 Android Code Code Completion not working

I just started to learn IntelliJ IDEA CE 12 for Android development as an alternative to Eclipse.

The IDEA is very fast, and I like it.
However, when I try to edit the Android XML file, code completion never appears. I use a MacBook Air (64 bit) in my office, and when I tried the Mac version, it worked beautifully.
I use Vista (32bit ver) in my house and my laptop specs are not so good. (why I decided to switch to IDEA from Eclipse ...)

I did not change any settings after installation. Is there an option to enable code completion for the Android XML editor? Or is it just a matter of machine performance?

I know this is a trash question, but I really need help here. Thank you in advance.

Please check if the project is configured correctly and your module has an Android facet and an Android SDK platform in dependencies.

IntelliJ IDEA indexes the JSDK, the Android platform, and your project when you open it for the first time. You need to wait for the indexing process to complete (progress is displayed in the status bar below).

Once indexing is complete, you should get all available code completion options. If for some reason it still doesn't work, try File | Invalidate Caches and restart IDEA.

I had the same problem and here are the solutions found:

  • Go to File->Power Save Mode and turn it off.
  • Go to Preferences->Editor->Code Completion and check Autopopup code completion
  • Go to File->Invalidate Caches and restart.

Turning off power saving mode is what fixed for me!
