Google Maps - a map from specific dates and times

Please consider the question before voting for this, as I could not conceptualize the best way or place to ask it:

I studied Google maps correctly to understand the general structure. Querying, creating custom flags, etc. All this is quite easy and very similar to the jCharts library.

Now google obviously has something inaccessible: a map from a certain date in the past. I don’t need a full iteration every day, but even every 6 months it will be huge.

Is it possible? Has anyone else experimented with this?

The only option to save the results locally and reinvent the Google map wheel?

Travel back in time with historical images on Google Earth. Browse the surroundings, hometown, and other familiar places to see how they have changed over time.

Regarding Google Maps:

• A discussion suggesting using old URLs to get old satellite imagery.

• This example supposedly draws old images, if available. This does not work for me.

• This search in Google groups may help, but I see that numerous posts about this are not officially available.

  There is no official service. These messages allude to return paths for a short time, in some circumstances.
