Where to start with Computer Vision

I am completely new when it comes to computer vision.
Remember that I'm good in C ++, can someone recommend me a good book for computer vision?

the software that I develop must be very efficient and fast because I will need to scan continuous images of a neuron and thus actually create connections between neurons.

Take a look at these libraries:

The OpenCV C ++ API looks great, and libccv looks promising (they have a great HTTP API feature). Currently, my favorite “book” is the OpenCV documentation: http://docs.opencv.org

nice freebie on general topics: http://szeliski.org/Book/ (the guy there loves to hear him talking, but still reads well !!)

if you choose opencv, there is the book “Exploring Opencv” by Gary Bradsky, http://www.cse.iitk.ac.in/users/vision/dipakmj/papers/OReilly%20Learning%20OpenCV.pdf (good explanations for almost everyone, but rather outdated code examples)
