Failed to run RDP on EC2 instance

I try to run RDP on an EC2 instance from my Windows 7 computer, but always get

Remote Desktop cannot connect to Remote Comupter for one of these resonances

1.) Remote Desktop on the server is not turned on.

2.) The remote computer is turned off

3.) The remote computer is not avilable on the network.

I can use RDP another instance of EC2. also as a worker, I can RDP in the exposed instance from another EC2 computer, but not from my Windows 7 computer, or from another machine on the network.

Check the security group of both the RDP-working and the RDP-non-working instance of ec2, and they are configured the same (port 3389 is enabled).

Any suggestion please !!!!

  • In the AWS console, edit your security group or create a new one and add a new inbound rule: "All traffic" and "User IP = {Your IP address]

  • Navigate to the instance you want to connect to and click "Connect" and download the remote desktop file or open it from a web browser.

  • On the same screen as in step 2 (Connect to your instance), click "Get Password" and download the .pem file directory, which you must download earlier and decrypt my password.

  • Log in to RDP with an administrator for the username and this password.

It is important to note that your default security group in AWS does not allow RDPing, which is why step 1 is important here.

Before connecting via RDP, you need to create an incoming RDP rule type (TCP to port 3389) in the "Security groups" section. You can either add it to an existing security group or create a new group, but if you create a new security group, you must go to "Network Interfaces", select the interface, go to "Actions"> "Change Security Group" and enable the new group .
