The status of the keyword "marker" in Jinja

Question

I looked though the template documentation for Jinja and noticed that in this example the marker keyword is not used in the base template, and it is also used later in the documentation. However, if you look here , marker used in the block example.

Why? Is marker obsolete? Is one document more relevant than another?

This is the documentation for two different versions of Jinja. http://jinja.pocoo.org/docs/ documents the current version of Jinja2, and http://wsgiarea.pocoo.org/jinja/ documents the old version of jinja "pre 1.0", supposedly for historical purposes. marker was probably removed in Jinja2 because it is equivalent to an empty block tag.
