Windows 8 store certificate: the downloaded application package is not valid due to certification (publisher ID)

When I try to download my application in Windows 8 storage, I get the following error:

Verification error: Publisher attribute of the Identity element in the application manifest does not match your publisher identifier, namely: CN = XXXXXXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXXXX

I manually updated the application manifest file with the publisher ID displayed in the error message. However, the value I provided got an overwrite when I uploaded the file a second time to the repository.

In conclusion, I cannot upload my solution to the Windows 8 repository due to a certificate issue.

Please, help.

Not much here. I suspect you might have missed a step. Have you linked the application to the Windows repository?

To do this, right-click on your project in the solution explorer in Visual Studio. Select "Store" β†’ "Associate an application with a store." Then follow the dialog boxes.
