Kassandra - How to remove dead node

Cassandra version 1.2.9. There are five node clusters, but one of the nodes works with a hardware failure, and ETA repair / replacement is unknown. I want to disable / delete down node (notifications clutter up all logs). The remote nodetool node seems ideal, except that it requires a host identifier. There is no host identifier in the bottom node (in the "null" status):

It seems that removeetoken is no longer an option for nodetool.

What is the correct way to remove this dead node?

Question for the old version of cassandra. But the official solution should be applied for any version of cassandra - https://docs.datastax.com/en/cassandra/3.0/cassandra/operations/opsGossipPurge.html

The steps there basically say to stop the cluster, remove the sstables associated with the peering, clear the gossip state and restart the cluster; that makes sense.
