Why is j_spring_security_check 404?

I am trying to implement form-based validation using Spring. Redirecting works fine: my main page is working correctly, and for http://localhost:8080/master/admin they redirect me to the login page ( http://localhost:8080/master/login/ ):

  <form action="j_spring_security_check" method="POST"> <label for="username">User Name:</label> <input id="username" name="j_username" type="text"/> <label for="password">Password:</label> <input id="password" name="j_password" type="password"/> <input type="submit" value="Log In"/> </form> but when I submit I get 404 on address: `http://localhost:8080/master/login/j_spring_security_check`

Here is my web.xml configuration:

And my root-context.xml (I did a redirect for google so that I know that the page exists in context)

I lost a lot of time, tried different combinations, but no luck. Any help is appreciated!

I think it could be the fact that your form of security should point to

 /master/j_spring_security_check
