Certificate Error in Internet Explorer 8 on Windows XP

In a project that my teammates are working with and I'm working on security issues with Internet Explorer 8 running on Windows XP.

Our application is hosted on a dedicated copy of Azure websites and has an EV certificate issued by GeoTrust. The certificate works correctly in all browsers, except for Internet Explorer 8 running on windows xp. We get the following warning:

The security certificate presented by this website was issued for a different website address.

When I go to View certificates, I only see a certificate problem for * .azurewebsites.net MSIT Machine Auth CS 2 .

We found additional information about this problem on the previous question: Problems with IE8 SSL certificate, while other browsers work like a charm

And the solution is to remove the SNI configuration in IIS, but we cannot do this on the azure websites. What we can do?

Most likely you are using an external IP address (not dedicated azure websites?), And it has not been working since IE8 in Windows XP does not support Server Name Specification .

Getting a dedicated instance should solve your problem, although I did not check if the dedicated azure website gets its unique IP address or not, so you can try it yourself.

Update. It would seem that you can really not use SNI when uploading a certificate to a Latin standard website.

Just in case ... SNI also seems to be confusing Android Bluefire Reader. We have a website that allows registered users to download purchased books, and direct download to Bluefire stopped working after switching to Azure. As soon as we started certificate settings in Azure, both IE + WinXP and Blufire started working.
