What is twitter: a good domain?

I am currently trying to use Twitter Card Validator for my website .

I did not install twitter:domain because the help text shows

RESTRICTED - twitter:domain will be automatically generated from your card URL. Not required

But I only wondered if I should still install it.

What will be the effect when I set twitter: domain? What value should I set it to? Should I install it at all?

(I think martin-thoma.com , but it could also be http://martin-thoma.com or martin-thoma.com/ .)

Accordingly, twitter:domain used to display text on the "View on ..." button. The validator seems to agree. As soon as you enter it and update the map, it will change from "Browse on the Internet" to "Browse by (value twitter: domain)".

The twitter:domain tag has since been omitted from the Link to Map Marker Labels link and is no longer referred to by the validator.

It seems to be de facto outdated and no longer in use.
