PDF XFA File convert to a "regular" PDF file

I am looking for a way to convert XFA PDF files to regular PDF files that can be processed and / or compressed using Imagemagick or ghostscript, for example. All the options I found just remove the XFA tags, resulting in empty files.

One way is to use Adobe Acrobat Reader and print the file through a virtual printer. But this is not an acceptable option on the server.

IText is also not suitable, because it is too expensive for what we need. Anyone have an idea or is there a better way?

I was able to convert forms created using XFA functions using the free PDFLabs toolkit called PDFtk. The interface is not as intuitive as I would have hoped, but it really did the job.

In addition, Debenu has a product called Quick PDF Library. I have not tried its function called RemoveXFAEntries, but I think it will do what you want. I am thinking of writing a utility to just encapsulate this function to make my work easier.
