Git Segmentation Error: 11

I had to reinstall OS X Lion on my Macbook Pro, and trying to use git, I got the Segmentation fault: 11 error message. No matter what git command I try to get this error. I just do it through the Mac terminal. No fantastic programs or anything external.

I uninstalled git and just to make sure it was removed. I typed git init and it gave me a message not found by the command.

I reinstalled git and I am still getting a segmentation error message. I get a message no matter in which directory I use and which command I use.

I got it to work, deleting it again and installing 1.8.1 instead of 1.9.2. I think OS X Lion will not like the latest release.

Try setting up an email address in your git configuration, if you haven’t done it yet - tracked the errors and what fixed it for me.

git config --global user.email " email@example.com "

I had the same problem, I used (2.12.2) on Windows 7 (x64), I reduced it to (2.12.1) , and now everything works fine.
