Chrome does not trust Fiddler root certificate

I have a feeddler installed on my machine. I installed the Fiddler Root Certificate to decrypt HTTPS traffic, but it only works in FF and IE, not in chrome. Chrome does not trust the Fiddler certificate and does not allow me to connect to tunneled connections.

I tried looking at the Fiddler2.com page for the plugin, but I can’t see anything.

I updated Fiddler and encountered a similar problem. This fixed it for me: http://textslashplain.com/2015/10/30/reset-fiddlers-https-certificates/

Violinist 4.6.1. 5+

  • Click Tools> Options.
  • Click the HTTPS tab.
  • Make sure that the text says Certificates generated by the CertEnroll engine.

( Note: you may notice that it is not possible to change the engine from MakeCert to CertEnroll, in this case restart Fiddler and start from the very beginning, then it should show CertEnroll.)

  • Click Actions> Reset All Certificates. It may take a minute.

  • Accept all requests (delete and re-add certificates)

Fiddler 4.6.1.4 and earlier

  • Click Tools> Options.
  • Click the HTTPS tab.
  • Clear the Decrypt HTTPS traffic check box.
  • Click the Remove Interception Certificate button. It may take a minute.
  • Accept all requests that appear (for example, do you want to remove these certificates, etc.)
  • (Optional) Click the Fiddler.DefaultCertificateProvider link and verify that the drop-down list is set to CertEnroll.
  • Exit and restart Fiddler.
  • Click Tools> Options.
  • Click the HTTPS tab.
  • Re-check the Decrypt HTTPS traffic box.
  • Accept all requests that appear (for example, do you want to trust this root certificate)

I think this is probably just one of many potential solutions for this, but it is one of the best search results for “your connection is not a personal intermediary”, so I’ll add it. Hope this helps everyone who comes across this.

NOTE. Several people have indicated that they need to restart Fiddler after doing the above.

It is also worth checking if the certificate generator plugin can be blamed.

In my case, Fiddler used CertMaker.BCCertMaker . After uninstalling, reinstalling, and returning to the CertEnroll engine , SSL works again.

  • Remove Fiddler and all its settings.
  • Install the latest version.
  • In Confirmation Tools → Telderik Fiddler Settings ... → HTTPS, confirm that the CertEnroll engine is creating the certificate.
  • In the same dialog box, click Actions → Reset All certificates, as in Chris, respond by accepting all the invitations.
  • Restart Fiddler.

When adding @chris to the answer, make sure you connect your device in my case, my phone, to the violinist after clearing the certificates. Otherwise, it will still have older certificates and will not receive new ones.
