Cannot stop Chrome from updating from 43 to 44

I use Selenium and Chrome to write a web test, yesterday my Chrome upgraded to 44, and now my test does not work, I know that this is a problem with Chrome 44, and we need to wait until a new version is given outside. So I try to bake chrome 43, I do:

1) Remove chrome 44

2) Install chrome 43

but as soon as the installation is completed, it will automatically open the chrome, and it will again be 44! I went to Run-> Service.msc and disabled my chrome for automatic updates, but it does not work. I delete the Update folder in User-> Myname-> AppData-> Local-> Google-> Update, but it does not work and there is nothing to do with the update in chrome: // plugins.

I AM STUCK

PLEASE HELP :( I did all the sulosion placed on the line, but not of them worked,

Spent time trying to turn off updates (literally hours, reading forums and testing various (some exotic) solutions), and it drove me crazy. But here is what seems like an error-free solution (see below).

Even using the official Google page with templates NOTHING: https://support.google.com/installer/answer/146164?hl=en

I carefully followed the instructions on this page, the keys in the registry are all correct, but "About Google Chrome" is still on when I open the program, I see how the wheel goes, and after a few seconds the update is forced and done.

I tried using the Google offline installer on a computer running Windows 8.1 64Bits - and yes all the keys are installed on:

Dword: AutoUpdateCheckPeriodMinutes Value: 0
Dword: DisableAutoUpdateChecksCheckboxValue Value: 1
Dword: UpdateDefault Value: 0
Dword: Update {8A69D345-D564-463C-AFF1-A69D9E530F96} Value: 0

... like in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Policies \ Google \ Update AND HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Wow6432Node \ Policies \ Google \ Update, since it is a 64-bit machine.

So, a radical solution to prevent automatic updates, if it helps someone, is to simply sort the program responsible for the update itself! (Just delete it, OR save a copy, OR rename it OR even better if I have to update one day: Zip content for future potential reuse).

A simple solution :
1- Go to "C: \ Program Files (x86) \ Google \ and find the folder" update ".
2- There are several choices:

A) first method: Rename the folder:

- Right-click> Rename > from Update.bak to Update2.bak, for example.
- Now launch Chrome: NO MORE UPDATES! because he cannot find the updater! Over .

  B) second method: Zip the folder:

- Lock the entire folder by creating an archive. (Right-click the Refresh> Send to Compressed Folder folder)
- The window may ask you to backup / zip and put it on your desktop, click "Yes." (message: Windows cannot create compressed folders here. Do you want to place it on your desktop instead? )
- Move the newly created zip file to its original location. A new window protection will appear> click Continue. (message: Administrator permission is required to copy this file ). [This will be what you need to unzip if one day you decide to upgrade Chrome. Just remember that when unpacking it will have the following structure: Refresh> Refresh>, and then the entire contents of the folder. Do not forget to move everything from the inside of the second update folder (copy the insert) one level up so that it becomes: Update> then the entire contents of the folder].

- Now that you have a copy, just delete the "Update" folder.
- Now launch Chrome: NO MORE UPDATES! because he cannot find the updater! Over .

Good luck and enjoy.

Turn off auto-updates in Windows

To disable Google Chrome auto-update on Windows, you need to instruct Google Update about it. To do this, you can:

Use the ADM templates for Google Update provided on this page, or as described in this article .

Set the value of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Policies \ Google \ Update \ AutoUpdateCheckPeriodMinutes to REG_DWORD "0".

You can check Mac and Linux in the first link

To get rid of Chrome 44 and return to 43, I downloaded a separate version of chrome 43, which is a .exe file, and I just double-clicked it and it was installed on my computer WITHOUT updating to Chrome 44 to find a link to Chrome 43, pay attention to RobW's comments on my question above, and if the link is out of date, you can either just google for chrome offline or go to the bottom of this page google chrome 64-bit standalone installer | 45.7 MB

Good luck :)
