Disable content support in Eclipse

How to disable content support in Eclipse?

I don’t mind it appearing when I press ctrl and space, but I don’t like the way it appears automatically when I type. It just confuses me. For example, I, in the end, scroll through the parameters when I just want to climb the line. This is tiring when you need to resort to escape, when he decides to emerge.

I found the page in the settings for it, but I can’t figure out how to turn off the automatic popup.

EDIT: I am using an Android development application. I have already turned off "automatic activation" for Java and XML, but it does not seem to be affected. The window will pop up automatically.

EDIT2: I tried to restart the program after making the changes, but it still didn't affect. I made sure that the changes to the options are still valid, and they are still valid.

This Eclipse3.6 content help page can help (this is for C ++, but the same idea applies to Java on the Java > Editor > Content Assist .) Preferences page:

The idea is to disable what triggers the content.

  • Go to the window → Settings.

  • In the search box for the filter text, type "typing".

  • Go to Editor → Enter.

  • Uncheck the box you do not want.

I don’t know if you really turned it off, but I had the same problems as you. I did the following: Window> Prefrences> Content Assist Uncheck the box and click "Apply"

Java> Editor> Content Support> Advanced Uncheck the box and click "Apply."

Hope this works if you haven't found the answer yet.

This is not entirely obvious, and there does not seem to be a global opportunity to disable it everywhere. This may seem obvious, but it’s important to turn off automatic activation for all types of structured editors that you don’t want to activate.

In Eclipse Mars.1: - go to Window then-> preferences → Java → Editor → Content Assist → Advanced → Restore Default → Apply, and then OK.
