How to start skype chat without calling with a link

You can put the value of "skype: nick" in the href attribute of the link, and it works, but it calls. I would like to start a chat (text conversation). I know that "skype:" is a protocol type, but maybe ...

Is there any possibility?

Have you tried <a href="skype:-skype-name-?chat">Start chat</a> ?

Allowed request parameters:

  • chat - start a chat.
  • call - start a call
  • add - add a person to contacts
  • userinfo - view user profile
  • voicemail - leave a voice message
  • sendfile - send file

I struggle with the following link all day.

 <a href="skype:-skype-name-?chat">Start chat</a>

The problem I ran into was -skype-name - part

Finally, I just decided.

My name on the Skype webpage was name , but my real name was name lastname . The link on my web page made Skype to download on my Android phone, but Skype could not find the account I wanted to call (first name last name).

I tried and could not:

 <a href="skype:name lastname?call">... <a href="skype:name+lastname?call">... <a href="skype:name%20lastname?call">... <a href="skype:name-lastname?call">... <a href="skype:name_lastname?call">... <a href="skype:phonenumber?call">...

Then the solution:

 <a href="skype:live:emailnamewithoutdomain?call">...

I just hope you find this helpful.

And do not forget that you have many commands to add after ? in the URL (add, call, chat, etc.).

The official site of Skype , it is well documented.

Basically at the end, it gives you a nice code for the button.

 <script type="text/javascript" src="http://cdn.dev.skype.com/uri/skype-uri.js"></script> <div id="SkypeButton_Chat_xxxx"> <script type="text/javascript"> Skype.ui({ "name": "chat", "element": "SkypeButton_Chat_xxxx", "participants": ["xxxx"], "imageSize": 24 }); </script> </div>

Cannot open Skype chat window for chat / chat link. Using the code above, Skype opens, but the chat window does not open. How can I get this to display? I use a PC, Windows 10, Office 365 with a Skype client downloaded to my computer.
