Cannot install Cobertura plugin for Eclipse

I get the following error message when I try to install the cobertura plugin in eclipse kepler (java / j2ee version) in the eclipse market.

Cannot complete the installation because one or more of the required items may not be found. Installed software: eCobertura 0.9.8.201007202152 (ecobertura.feature.group 0.9.8.201007202152)

Missing requirement: eCobertura 0.9.8.201007202152 (ecobertura.feature.group 0.9.8.201007202152) requires 'org.junit4 0.0.0', but could not be found

I managed to get eCobertura to install by copying the junit plug-in subdirectories from a previous version of Eclipse into my plugins / directory, and then restarting Eclipse.

The junit version that comes with my Eclipse (Spring Toolsuite v3.3) was org.junit_4.11.0.v201303080030. This is the one that caused the installation of eCobertura for failure.

The two versions that I copied from STS 3.2 were org.junit4_4.8.1.v20120523-1257 and org.junit_4.10.0.v4_10_0_v20120426-0900.

Installing eCobertura in a new eclipse ( Kepler , Luna ) causes a problem due to a newer version of the JUnit package that is not processed using eCobertura checkers.

One solution (suggested in the previous answer) is that you need to copy the org.junit* packages from the old eclipse installation, but this can be a problem if you don't have one.

The solution for a completely new installation is very similar: you need to download org.junit4_4.8.1.v20120523-1257.jar from the Internet and just put it in the eclipse plugins folder.

Please note that you do not have to add org.junit_4.10.0.v4_10_0_v20120426-0900.jar in this case.

After that, you can install eCobertura .

Download eclipse from this link and go to $eclipse_home/plugins and copy these folders

  • org.junit_4.10.0.v4_10_0_v20120426-0900
  • org.junit4_4.8.1.v20120523-1257

A bit late, but just wanted to add that this worked for STS 3.8.1 using Eclipse Mars. Just load the JAR mentioned above and put it in the plugins folder.
