PhpStorm terminal shortcuts: switch tab, return to editor, etc. (Mac)

When opening the PhpStorm Terminal Tool window, I would expect that you can run commands like Ctrl + Tab to switch terminal tabs or Cmd + 1 to open the Project Tool window, but my keyboard is stuck inside the terminal.

Is there a way to free the keyboard from the terminal so that I can return to regular commands? (Without using the + F12 option to hide the terminal window.)

  • Switching between Terminal tabs can be done using the same shortcut as the editor tabs: Alt + Left / Right on Windows using the Defaultmap card by default (on Mac it will be Cmd + Shift + [ and Cmd + Shift +] (or all you have there is Main Menu | Window | Editor Tabs | Select Next/Previous Tab - you can check / change it in Preferences | Keymap )).

  • The shortcut to the Project View tool window ( Alt + 1 on Windows or Cmd + 1 on Mac) does not work if used in the terminal .. but the shortcuts for the Favorites or Structural tool windows still work fine.

Therefore, I can offer you to first go to Structure through Alt + 7 ( Cmd + 7 on Mac), and then just use Esc to go to the Editor). Postscript See if a recording macro with such a sequence will work for you (you can assign a special shortcut for it).

I would suggest just adding another key combination to access the terminal. For instance. ⌘0

F12 is the default shortcut for Mac and Linux.

This shortcut will switch the terminal focus. The default F12 shortcut for Mac (dunno about Windows) will not.

You may need to restart PhpStorm to capture ⌘0 or whatever.

You can access the terminal using Alt + F12 on Windows
