Preset HLS Settings for 480p | 720p | 1080p

We are trying to transcode mp4 video to HLS using the AWS transcoder. We see that only a few presets are available ( highest being 2M ). The maximum resolution that gives us is 360p on JWPlayer .

If we want a higher resolution ( 480p | 720p | 1080p ), we understand that we need transcode video with a higher bit rate. To do this, we will need to create new presets.

Can someone help us with different transcoder settings to create these presets? We do not understand most of the fields presented in presets.

thanks

I believe that the set way to fix this problem would be to accept the existing high-definition preset and change it in HLS format. To do this, run the presets and click on the magnifying lens to the left of the preset "System Preset: Full HD 1080i60 MP4" and select "Copy" in the upper left corner. From there, I could make the following changes:

  • Container: .ts
  • (Profile: main or high - experiment :))
  • Interlaced Mode (Auto)
  • Sizing policy (choose what you think is best (1) - the 2M preset used a resolution of 1024x768. Heat shrink to fit, for reference.)
  • (optionally remove the watermark settings using -Watermark on the left side of the page.
  • And click "Create Preset."

If you need more information about predefined configuration values, this guide (2) gives a good overview of what each value means.
