How to display names by named ranges in Excel?

I accidentally thought that Excel 2010 could automatically display the names of named regions above them as a kind of overlay layer:

Excel 2010 displays named ranges in the corresponding region

Based on my findings, this happens if two conditions are true:

  • view zoom level does not exceed 39%
  • the name defines a range that is larger than one cell (but still one area)

Do you know that? Is this a bug or a function?

How can I intentionally enable this feature, possibly with any zoom level?

An interesting result; I have found so little that your post was on the first page of Bing search results. It seems that here: http://www.mrexcel.com/forum/excel-questions/119051-dont-display-range-name-when-zooming.html , that even if there is a command so that this name does not appear when enlarged below 40%, it does not seem to be a team to change the threshold from 40% to something else.

Perhaps you can use VBA code to move translucent figures of verbal art to align with the top left cell in any named range, but it seems like a lot of work if you don't have a specific payoff.

This post , mentioned by @Grade, tried to remove the named watermark (trying to use the term here), but was only slightly successful with this macro:

Sub Hide_Names() Dim iName As Name For Each iName In ThisWorkbook.Names iName.Visible = False Next iName End Sub

This topic here (the same forum) since 2002 tried to answer your question, but did not answer ... what does this function mean in Excel 2000 and is still poorly documented.

I just looked through all the Excel objects and Interop libraries for the name, scaling, and watermark and did not find anything similar to this function. I hope someone smarter can shed some light, but I think your answer is simply no.
