Intellij IDEA - Subversion Import Project - Choose What To Import

How to select folders and files from a project to import into Subversion? When I do CVS - Import to version control - Import to Subversion, it just imports the entire selected folder. What if I do not want to import the .idea folder and project-name.iml file, for example? Is there any way to choose what to import?

Finally, I found a solution. I just had to do "Share Directory" in the project folder. And then I was able to choose which files / directories to ignore and what to do.

To assign a version control system to the project root:

VCS -> Enable Version Control Integration or press Alt + Back Quote and select Enable Version Control Integration ....

In the Enable Version Control Integration dialog box that opens, select the version control system from the drop-down list that you want to associate with your project root.

From there, your project will be connected to the version control system that you want to use. You can right-click on the directories that you want to include in VCS and go to the version control system. And then add to VCS.

For example: Subversion -> Add to VCS or Ctrl + ALT + A

Even with the latest version of Intellij 2017, this is not a direct process of adding a new project to Subversion.

As the “other programmer” explains, we first need a “Share Directory”, which is the new project directory, by using or creating a directory in subversive activities. Then you should see that the project files / directories turn green, which means that you are ready to register. You can select files / directories to register your new project.
