How can I make Eclipse file search not include svn directories?

When I do a file search in eclipse, it by default includes .svn directories. I tried to exclude them from the build path, but they still appear in the file search results.

The astronaut is right. Using Helios, select Project -> Properties -> Resource -> Resource Filters , and then add an exclude filter for the Folder type named .svn .

If you install the subclipse plugin, it automatically excludes .svn directories (plus provides some other interesting things in the IDE).

If this does not work, just restart Eclipse (sometimes it is necessary for a new check)

Following Mark Ingram’s excellent answer, simply installing the plugin will not lead you there - you still need to Share your project so that the automatic filtering of searches is strengthened. After you have configured the location of the SVN repository from the Subeclipse view, you can share your project by following these steps:

  • Inside Package Explorer, right-click the project name
  • Select the Team context menu option and then Share Project...
  • Step by step to link the project with its location in the svn repository
  • After you finish this and rebuild the workspace, you are all set to use filtered search.

Excluding .svn folders, making them derivative stops appearing in search results, see here .

You have to do this manually for each folder, if you have many .svn folders, then this is not ideal.

If you missed the plugin route, I prefer subversive over subloan.

Ah - OK. I do not use SubVersion as such, but will this be useful? He claims that he can do what you want ...

Eclipse import will also contain a file of the type .java.svn-base, so it is better to give it as shown below.

You can also select ALL file name patterns to include in the file search dialog.

Click on the drop-down triangle in the upper right corner of the Navigator and select "Filters ..".

By default, Eclipse offers only ".class" and ".".

If you select ". *", You will hide the .svn files. Obviously, all other .something files will also be hidden.
